Mambot Links EVERYTHING?

bryanmci 09 Apr, 2009
I've opted to use Chronoforms for my website, due to the fact that it offers much more capabilities than other products I've seen.

I've placed a form into an article via the mambot ( by stating {chronoform}formname{/chronoform}. My form appears withinin my article. However, as soon as a piece of my form is clicked on (whether it be a heading, a field, a line of text), it links me to the component and my form name.

Once the link is processed, I get "There is no form with this name or may be the form is unpublished, Please check the form and the url and the form management".

Is this by design? Is the mambot only supposed to 'link' (to) the form within the article? I was under the impression the mambot placed the form within the article so that it could then be filled out.

Thanks in advance.

Hi bryanmci,

No, not by design. Sounds like some broken PHP somewhere creating a link that's very big.

Does your form work OK in stand-alone mode?

Haven't tried it in stand-alone mode yet. I'll give that a whirl when I get in the office in about an hour or so.

Actually, I just logged in, and clicking on the link to the form from Form Manager does present the form correctly, and I'm able to fill in fields.

Chronocontact 3.1 RC4
not sure on mambot version. can find out when I get to the office.
Joomla 1.5.10

I did see that in the mambot, I had the view set to Pop-Up. Not sure if that makes a difference. Changed it and went to my article.

A new form I made (by inserting the form code from our current website); the fields work correctly, however every heading for the field is a link; which performs in the same way.

Hi bryanmci,

Something's not quite right there - by all means post or PM/email me a link to the problem pages and I'll take a look.

Hi bryanmci,

Fixed, the plugin tag was inside a link in the article editor - evidently this sends Joomla into an orgy of linking everything in sight. Here's teh old verison seen by viewing the HTML source in the editor:
. . .You will then be contacted via the method specified in the form.</p><p><a href="index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=Auto%20Quote%20Request">{chronocontact}AutoQuoteRequest{/chronocontact}</a></p>
and the fixed version
. . .You will then be contacted via the method specified in the form.</p>
{chronocontact}AutoQuoteRequest{/chronocontact}

Rock on Bob!!!

Thanks so much. I figured you must have been in and poked around, because now the form is working properly. I'll watch out for this link.

Now I just need to figure out why my (left) side menu appears at the bottom of the form.
Have a great weekend!

Hi bryanmic,

Menus forced below forms or vice versa are usually <div> problems. Check for an unclosed div somewhere.

If you are using the default ChronoForms theme try using Transform Form and switch to theme1 which I think is more stable (I'm not sure if you can do this but if you can it's worth a try).

Hi Bob.

I actually got that working as well. My old (current) site's forms were built upon tables, fieldsets, different padding levels, etc, etc.

Once I cleaned all of that up out of the code, it works great!!!

Thanks once again!
