Hi there,
I discovered Chronosforms a couple of weeks ago and think the theory and idea are simply fantastic.
I was looking at getting a couple of licenses for this however I do have some concerns before I do, as they would be used by clients and so proper functionality is paramount.
I have used the forms on my own site (RC3) and found that the drag and drop wizard could be a little buggy after only a few items (think it was 5). Now I have installed RC4 (after some effort) on a clients site that is being revamped and found that the bug is still there for firefox, but even worse its now in IE7 also and worse than in Firefox.
In firefox what happens is that I can add 5 fields (I think) and upon adding a 6th it will not place it at the bottom, but instead move the already last field down (thus keeping it last) and insert the new field above it.
In IE7 im struggling adding any kind of fields at all as I can drag and then drop but its not inserting it (infact it is not even highlighting the container where the fields would be placed).
I guess the bug in Firefox would not be so bad if there was a simple way to re-order the fields without the need to break into the html editor. As far as the html editor goes, the positioning in Firefox is poor also as the bottom half disapears beyond the bottom of my browser, and obviously as it is javascript when you scroll, it moves also lol.
Any chance these items could be looked at? I cannot give access to any sites due to being sensitive, however I could provide video examples of these issues happening if you require.
Many thanks,
Tom.
Hi Tom,
I don't have any problem adding up to twenty or more fields with the wizard (using FireFox or IE7). True, to get them at the bottom or top you need to drop them into the rather narrow margin. I usually put a submit button in first and then you can drop fields above it. You do have to have the Border area 'lit up' before you can drop but hovering near the bottom is enough to do that.
To sort fields in the Wizard you need to use the little double arrow icon on the item, you can then drag and drop it into another location.
Hope this helps.
Bob
Hi Bob,
I will have to try the trick with the submit button😉 and I didnt realise the two arrows allowed for easy movement. The problem with the positioning of the html editor in Firefox though are still present, but more importantly the problem with IE7 are pretty much alive for me.
I have a recorded video file which will show you what happens for me in IE7, it is 1.2Mb in size but obviously I cannot upload a MP4 extension file. IE is a standard install and no settings altered (as im a FF user) so there is nothing that should realistically cause any issues from my end.
Regards,
Tom.
Hi Tom,
By all means email me the Video or a link to it.
I'm not quite sure what the HTML editor problem is - I can scroll the editor page in both IE7 and FireFox?
Bob
Hi Bob,
ive attached an image for you for the html editor. Please bear in mind that the position it is in in the image remains the same when you scroll down in firefox (not the editor window) so you never see the bottom of the editor window. Subsequently I have found that this also happens with the previe window and must be linked to the number of fields or similar within the form.
Where could I send the file? (Please PM me the email address if needed).
Many thanks for your prompt responses🙂 Its good to see that there are developers who take pride in after care🙂 (sorry one or two experiences where im not getting no help lol and thats after paying).
Regards,
Tom.
Hi Tom,
Sorry I misunderstood which HTML editor - I've never used that one - (I just tried it in IE7 and it's off the page to the top left). Once you've saved the form wizard result there is a Form HTML box in the Form Code tab where you can see and edit the code (but note that edits here will be lost if you later use the Wizard Edit function).
Email address is info at greyhead.net

PS Just for clarity the product is Max's, I just do some technical support here.
Hi Bob,
Email is on its way. I never realised as I thought this was something you and Max were doing together. My bad though.
But I do still really appreciate the help.
Kindest regards,
Tom.
Hi Tom,
No problem, I got the video and see what is happening. Cant' replicate it though unless I click in the Properties box to edit a field. Then clicking back in the input frame frees it up again.
Rather low quality video here - from IE7 with ChronoForms RC4
Bob
Hi!
I have some of the problems as Tom and some more..
In IE7: If i hit one of the 3 buttons "save, form preview, " I can't see the black box, only the rightmost of it! OK in Firefox
Same problem with droping the elements from the Toolbox
best regards
Per
Hi per,
I confirmed this in another thread this morning - hopefully Max will find a fix for the RC4.1 release.
Bob
Hi Bob, Per, Tom,
under which resolution you get this problem in IE7 ? no problems here, I made a layout fix for the wizard though, RC4.1 will be out once I finish the new validation script implementation, working on this since morning!🙂
Bob, I can't see the problem in your video, but which resolution do you have ? there is some layout issue in the wizard!

Hi Max,
There's no problem in the video - that bit works fine.
It's the HTML preview in the Wizard, and the Save window (and the tooltips) in IE7.
It happens regardless of window size . . .
Bob
Hi Max,
I run two resolutions, left side is 1440 x 900 and right side is 1280 x 1024 but as bob mentioned it is regardles of the resolution. The html editor (when working in wizard view) and the preview screen seem to be a problem with the absolute positioning (im assuming its the absolute positioning due to the slimbox style appearance) only after you have been working in the wizard for a little bit.
If I then save the form and open it again and then look at the html editor or preview it works fine, it is just after having dragged and dropped some fields etc where it falls apart.

Tom.
Hi Tom,
Please get RC4.11, install it (this is easy, no uninstall, just install this and it will upgrade your previous version) and let me know what happens!
don't forget to purge your site and browser caches before navigating to any page in the new install!

Hi Max,
This seems to have cured the positioning of the html editor and preview browser when working in wizard view😀
I shall give it a proper run in later on and report back. PS do you work in USD or another $ variant ? . Will purchase a license when this payment clears, as this is a worthwhile investment.
Might even send you a couple of vid tutorials over (if you could use them that is) as I will need to make some for my client anyway lol.
Regards,
Tom.
Hi Tom,
Max works in USD (although I think that 2CO take almost anything).
Tutorials always welcome.
