Viewing Uploaded Files

MatthewSchenker 06 Apr, 2009
Good Morning,
I have Chronoforms running fine. I've created several forms, which work great. I've figured out how to get follow-up e-mails and messages working, and I have forms for people to upload files.

OK, now I just need to be able to easily view all the files that have been uploaded by members using the forms!

When I view the database table of the form, I see the upload field, but none of the uploaded files are listed there.

I know I can use my FTP program to go to the upload directory and see the files. But that does not show which member uploaded which files! There must be a way to view the uploaded files inside Chronoforms. Please tell me what it is!

Thanks for all yor great work on Chronoforms.

Hi Matthew,

Which Chronoforms version do you have ?

you say that the files names are not stored in the database table of the form ?

Max,
I played around and finally got the file names to show up when I go to the table. However, to actually view the file it looks like I have to go in through my FTP service or something. I'm assuming I'm missing something here. With a lot of records, it would be pretty inconvenient to check them all that way.

I'm running the latest Chronoforms version (3.1 RC3).

I have Chronoforms running mostly fine now -- just this and a couple of other small issues to iron out!

Hi Matthew,

I suggest an upgrade to V3.1 RC4, but anyway, this will not have a file explorer to show you the files uploaded, this may be done using ChronoConnectivity for example!

Max,
OK, I updated to RC4. Like you said, still no file explorer.

How do people handle uploaded files here? I mean, what if you have 50 or 60 people uploading files? Do you go to your FTP application to find them, then match them to the forms? That doesn't sound right.

Hi Matthew,

you go to the form and click "show saved data" then select a record and this will show you which file has been uploaded that time!

but if you want a list of files per form or per user then you need more advanced code, ChronoConnectivity can do this, or a custom Chronoform with some PHP code!
