Cannot Activate Input Fields with Internet Explorer

The3DGuy 29 Mar, 2009
I am working a new site construction with Joomla 1.5 and ChronoForms has been a godsend. It's given me controls to customize my form I couldn't do with Joomla's default forms.

On my front page I have a two-field (name & email address) contact form with a total of 3 validations. The form is loaded from within the body of the front page article.

Upon form submission, the user is redirected to a thank-you article.

All form features, validations, and redirects work perfectly in both Firefox and Internet Explorer but in IE there seems to be a minor bug – more of an annoyance really.

In Internet Explorer (both versions 6 and 7) you cannot click into an input text field to activate it, but if you click the submit button, it will activate the text field and insert the cursor. If you continue to click the submit button, the form will walk you through filling out the form with validation messages acting like a wizard.

Weird huh?

I already adjusted the z-index of the form elements to insure they’re layered above the rest of the page. That sometimes fixes lost elements in IE but this time had no effect.

I am tempted to change the button label to “Form Wizard” and pretend it works that way by design.

Check out the form for yourself at http://www.internationalcollegeofministry.org and tell me what you think.

Thanks,

Hi The3DGuy,

To make sure its not a CSS issue lets test this in a different Joomla template, try it with the default template J_Purity which comes with Joomla, is it the same ?

Cheers,
