File Uploads not working half the time

randy1982 14 Mar, 2009
Hello,

I use a form where users submit some information along with a file, and it works about 50% of the time where the file is attached to the email. The other times, the name of the file is in the email, but there is no attachment.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Hi Randy,

Probably because you don't have enctype="mulitpart/form-data" in the Form Tag Attachment box on the General Tab for your form. There are some other possibilities but that's the most likely.

There is a File Upload tutorial in the DownLoads Section here where you can check out the other settings.

I'm having this same issue. I tried what was suggested in the FAQ but it still isn't working.

It seems that everytime I test the script it works and the fill is attached but when other people try it it doesn't work.

Hi MediaMisfit,

Please check the File Tutorial in the DownLoads area - if that doesn't help [sendfb][/sendfb]

Having the same issue.. It seems this could be a bug in the system.. I even upgraded my clients to the latest Firefox and 1 out of 3 uploads makes it through sometimes. There seems to be no pattern

GreyHead,

I have sent you the form a week ago. You couldn't find anything wrong with it other then setting the minimum file size.

The attachments work only half of the time.

It's not a form issue it's a Chrono issue..

Hi pphfl,

I'm sorry, I've probably looked at twenty or thirty forms this week, I don't remember them clearly.

ChronoForms works very reliably with file uploads when the settings are correct and the site permissions are good.

Seems I can't help you any more. Send me a copy of the form if you want me to look at it.

Hi pphfl,

The attachments work only half of the time.

did you test this yourself ? different browsers ? what was the files sizes and extensions ? was you getting any errors ?

I suggest you always try with small files with clear extensions at the end of the file name!

Cheers
