can I email to site domain address?

kassandra 04 Mar, 2009
Hi 🙂

The first thing: what a beautiful component!!
Thank you so much 8)

... but I've a question for you: I'm testing the site of an associatioin and I've made a form to send a message FROM site visitors TO the association office, to an address like "info@sitename.it"
I've studied your excellent tutorials and it's all ok, BUT the email don't arrived to that address.
This is the situation:
- email to: info@sitename.it
- email bcc: me@privateaddress.it
- email from: visitor address (dynamic field from the form)

the email arrive to my bcc address but don't arrive to principal address.

The configuration of my joomla is:
- email: webmaster@sitename.it
- mailer: php mail function

It's impossible to send email to the same sitename? I hope that exist a way to do this. Or not?

Please, be patient with the orrible english of an italian chrono-fan and help me 😶

Hi!
Thanks for your answers 😀

try to send to email@gmail or @yahoo ?

the bbc address is an gmail address: no problems, the email arrives. The problem is oly with first address, @sitename.it

Do the Emails arrive Ok if you use a Static From Email like admin@sitename.it ??

I've tried with a static from BUT not a @sitename.it address, 'cause I've understood it's not a good thing to have "to" and "from" with same domain. but with a static From @otherdomain.it the email don't arrive (but the bcc: it's arrive)

thanks for every advice :?

Hi viviana,

Having the To and From addresses with the same domain shouldn't be a problem as long as they are separate mailboxes - using identical email addresses (or addresses that are aliases for the same mailbox) could be a problem.

Ah! Now I understand 8)

thanks for the explanation, maybe I'm a little bit slow... 🙄

So, I'll try to use for "To" info@sitedomain.it and for "From" webmaster@sitedomani.it: do you think this can be the problem?

My aim was to enable the association employees to reply at the visitors email directly with an easy "replay to", so I tried to insert a dynamic from.
As an alternative, I'll insert in the body of email the navigator address (from a form field) and the employee will make a copy/past operation, I suppose. It's not so handy, but It's a way.

You know if there's a better alternative for my aim?

Hi,
thank you very much for your explanation: now my form go 😀 😀

your work is really wonderful, guys! 8)

then, if you can help me to solve the last question... I'll create the italian chrono form fans club 🤣

It's completely impossible to insert the visitor address in the From email field? If it's so, ok... it's my choise all the same
GreyHead 05 Mar, 2009
Hi kassandra,

No, it's not impossible. You can do it with a Dynamic From Email **BUT** it is very likely that it won't work.

I suggest that you add a reply to link in your email template:
<a href='mailto:{email}?subject={subject}' >click here to reply</a>

Hi.

I am working on a website hotel with a reservation form, based on chronoforms.

My problem is like Kasandra problem:

the form load fine, and send emails very fine to others email adress, like gmail, etc. but if i use this:

to: info@hotelsite.com - from: reservations@hotelsite.com - bbc: myemail@gmail.com

the form send the email, i recieve on my gmail account, but not on the domain hotel email.

I dont know what to do, and why this problem.

Thanks

Hi mechas,

This all looks OK. The email is being sent Ok as you receive a cpy in your Gmail account - so the hotel copy is being put into a spam folder or spam trap somewhere. Check with the Email provider for hotelsite.com and see what then can tell you.

Also check the spelling of the email domains carefully, it's easy to make a little typo.
