Hi there,
What I have on my company's website seems to be the oldest (1.0)๐ข version of chronoform.
I want to use Latest version of chronoform ๐ฒ (i.e. 3.0) & in order for me to do that I'll have to backup the current form's on this website & set them up again in newer version, right ?
Now my question is, how do I do that ?๐คจ (Really don't wanna screw up the active forms, as I joined company 5 days ago๐ )
I have attached necessary screenshots!
Your help is very much appreciated!๐

Hi vinu123,
Five days in - tread with care!
Which version of Joomla are you on? If you are staying on Joomla 1.0.x for the moment and the forms are working then frankly there's probably not a lot of point in upgrading.
If you are moving to Joomla 1.5.x - which is recommended just from a security and maintainability point of view - then I'd progress step by step.
First create a new 'development' Joomla installation, separate from the live site, and install the latest ChronoForms release.
Use copy and paste to copy the Form HTML and anything other code on the Form Code tabs into the new installation.
Find your way around the new ChronoForms, debug the code, setup database connections, validation, etc. in the development environment.
Then, when you are ready to migrate the live site, you can backup your forms from the development site and restore them on the new live site hopefully without too much hiatus.

I am on joomla 1.0x & using probably the oldest version of chronoforms.
The things is that I wanna make a very simple form with 4 fields that will allow the user to mails their details to the destined email address, and it seems so hard to get that thing done with the version of chronoforms I am using. Therefor I figured it would be easier if could backup current forms & install version 3.0 & then create that simple form with the help of easy to use & more convenient interface of 3.0 version of chronoforms.
What do you reckon I should do ?

Hi vinu123,
Well ChronoForms v3.0 won't run on Joomla 1.0.x so that solves that part of your problem. There is a version 2.3.9 for Joomla 1.0.x that adds some functionality, I'm not sure it it's going to help you a lot in upgrading though.
Again. I'd create a development install of Joomla 1.0.15 and try it out. Takes ten minutes to do an installation if you have server access and could save you a lot of heartache getting problems with a live site.
From memory I'm pretty certain that you can build the form that you need in most of the ChronoForms versions - but I'm not certain. Max may remember better.

Hi vinu123,
You can make your form send the email, looking at your screenshot you need to add the email address and the subject and test!
Cheers

Thanks admin & greyhead for your quick replies, I appreciate that a lot.
OK, I had a look at one of these simple form creating flash tutorials, in which you copy-paste your HTML somehwere in form configuration while creating form.
but my version of chronoforms doesn't seem to have that facility, If y'd like more screenshots or want to play around the chronoforms component on my site, I can create a user.
It's just that my job hangs in the balance, sir.
cant thanks you enough for your support till date!
