Need help putting form in content page - not working

kristap 01 Feb, 2009
Ok, I am a joomal newbie as well as a chrono forms newbie...... I am using joomla 1.0 and I installed the chrono forms for the 1.0 into the component, and I also installed and published the mambot. I used the sample form and I tested it and it took almost a 1/2 hour but I did get the email and it was fine. So I went to a content page that I created in the "content", "section manager" and I went in that file and added {chronocontact}Free_Freight_Quote{/chronocontact}where I would type the content that I want to show up on the page......But when I go to preview my site for that page, the form doesn't show up instead the {chronocontact}Free_Freight_Quote{/chronocontact} shows up.... I would post what I am looking at but I don't know how... i think it ctrl and print screen but I can't figure out how to show you......here is the link to the page that i am trying to get the form to show up on.... [[>>link removed : GreyHead <<]] and here is what the form should look like [[>>link removed : GreyHead <<]] can some one help me figure out why its not working?

Thanks so much
krista

Well, disregard this question, I REALLY messed it up... I unistalled something and now i can't reinstall it, so i think I'm going to try to undo joomla and try the 1.5 version see if i can have better luck... I will re-post again when I'm ready at thsi point again.... I think my template that I'm using if for joomla 1.0 and i'm not sure if it will work for 1/5 ut we'll see what happens.
Hi krista,

I've no idea what happened but Joomla 1.5 is a much better choice, Joomla 1.0on remains maintained for a few more months.

I removed the links from your post as there are no forms on one and the second diverted to some completely different site.

Hi Bob,
thanks for responding.... Does that mean if I have the 1.0 that it won't work any more?

I was trying to get the forms to work and I had deleted something I should have and then I couldn't get into the chronoforms and when I tried to re install it, i had gotten an error that the file already existed, but I couldn't find it... So I deleted everything, and installed the joomla 1.5 but my template wouldn't work because it was a 1.0 template and I couldn't get it to work, so I took all that out and reinstalled the joomla 1.0........... Its very frustrating when you are learning as you go....... So right now, I have it half way to the point I was when I made the original post... I know sounds kind of confusing....

Basically at this point I need to know before I go any further, is after a few months, will the joomla still work if I stay with it? I don't want to get my site going and running and then have to start all over yet again? Does that make sense?

Hi Krista,

Joomla 1.0 won't stop working . . . BUT it's no longer being developed and I think that they stop doing anything but major security fixes from this summer so it's fast becoming out-of-date. The same is true of Joomla extensions - all new development (with a few exceptions) is for Joomla 1.5.

So, if you are just starting out I wouldn't touch Joomla 1.0 - there are so many templates out there that you must be able to find something similar for Joomla 1.5 (what is the template you have?)

Best wishes

Hi Bob,

I think it is called siteground37 or something like that... I chose it becasue I could easily change out the top snowy banner and put my own onto it...and I like the clean look of it..... Being as inexperienced as I am, I like that it was easy to just change the name of my .jpg to the same name that the html uses for what I want to change it to.... (LOL If that makes sense) here is what I'm using but I guess later this after noon I will have to start from scratch again... http://globallogistics.lhosting.info/

Hi Krista,

The equivalent template for Joomla 1.5 is here but without the winter picture.

Bob

PS I know nothing about SiteGround good or bad so have no idea how their templates behave in use.

Thank you sooooo much Bob, that is awesome.... I will get to work with it in a little while.....And may or may not have to post when I get to the chronoform issue again, but hopefully I will be all set when all is said and done....

Thanks again, I appreciate all the help.
