Can't install v3

rsie 03 Jan, 2009
Hi,
I was using an older version of chronoforms which a developer had installed on my site. I saw there is a new version so I saved my forms, removed the old component, downloaded the new version, but when I go to install it I get this warning 'Warning! Failed to move file.' Can you tell me what might be going on?

thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

There are several possibilities but the most likely is that you don't have write permission for the folder that the Joomla Installer is trying to upload the file to.

Can you install otther extensions OK?

If so then it may be that the CF file is just too big and times out. In that case try a manual installation. The instructions have been posted here recently.

Thanks for your quick response. After I posted, I thought of the same thing and since I have been joomlapack backing up, I have a number of instances. The folder was writable allright, but I now think something happened to the database. So I went to a different instance and it worked.

So moving along, I tried to restore one of my form backups from the previous version (think 1.0?) and I get this error: Restoring the whole form failed Failed, error : Unknown column 'extraemail' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO jos_chrono_contact (id,name,html,scriptcode,redirecturl,emailresults,extraemail,emailsubject,onsubmitcode,onsubmitcodeb4,attformtag,submiturl,emailtemplate,paramsall,titlesall,autogenerated,published) VALUES ('','TrainingSupportReg','

Is this the correct method for reusing previous forms from an old version? Looking at the table revealed that there isn't an 'extraemail' field. This looks to me like that was part of the 'old' database table? This is why I didn't want to install on my working code, anticipating something like this could happen...

thanks again and this is one of the best components out there. Nice job!
