How to upgrade from older version to V.3.0 ??

fumla 25 Dec, 2008
O simply don't get it, I made a search on this forum and don't get any information, I tried to spider the main page, no info ? Is the conlusion that you can't upgrade ?

I got my website done by some amateurs which installed the ChronoForms on my Joomla website, now I discard the entire project which I paid 1.800 for and build a new website by my self, and want to upgrade the version I have installed now, hope someone has an idea!

Hi fumla,

There is no automatic upgrade to v3.0 but it's quite simple to do by hand. If you search for upgrade you should find them fairly easliy as I've posted twice in the last week or so.

The older versions of ChronoForms - up to 2.5.9 I think will run OK on Joomla 1.5 but there are more features in v3.0

How many forms do you have? And how complicated are they. If you take a back up copy using the Icon in the Forms Manager and email it to me at the address in my sig I may be able to upgrade it for you as it's Xmas.

hmmm, now Im confused.

I thoguth I have to upload all the NEW V.3.0 files to the server somehow ? Thats my problem, if I go and send you the forms how will the files on my server be upgraded ?

There are only 4 forms and they arent complicated, I think it is straight out of the box, since as I mentioned, the company that tried to develop my website only took the money and made a cheap 5 min. solution for me.

However I appreciate your X-Mas present🙂

Hi Fumla,

to upgrade a complete new install is needed for Chronoforms, tell me what are your forms doing at the moment ?

They are just 4 simple contact forms, which check for required fields and then e-mail the results to me.... so very simple.

There is no fancy HTML or anything else in it. Anyway, I have some problems with the Image Verification, and wanted to enable it through the DATABASE, but when I put it on YES and 0 then it don't work on the forms, I also inserted this little code, but still not working. Thats the reason for why I wanted to upgrade.

However maybe it is time to spend another 25 and get a new installation.

hmmm okay, just spend the $25 and didn't receive any full version ? Is this done manually or when can I expect to get the license script ?

Hi fumla,

Max deals with these. He will be back to you as soon as he can, I know that he has some problems with his internet connection and it is the holiday season.

I will PM you now.

Hi fumla,

you should have got the email about 20 hours ago or so, let me know if you still didn't get it through the Contact us page above!

If the forms are as simple as that then all you need to do is to read the setup email tutorial for V3.0 from Downloads/Chronoforms Tutorials/ to get familiar with this in V3.0, then find and copy the HTML code from the old forms to some text file then to new ones in the new install, assuming you still didn't uninstall your old version ?

let me know!

Hi,

I still only got some "upgrade" e-mail, but don't think it is the full version without back link!

However everything looks to work now, except the fact that I need huge help for a problem, for which I think is peace of cake for some expirience Chronoform user. How the hell do I get it listed as a article or something so I can put my modules around it ?

I already read the few threads here and the FAQ 43 but if I follow the this steps, the forms get wrapped into a Article but it don't work it is just displayed as images and text😟 Please let me know where to find help?

Hi fumla,

There are two solutions to this. If you click the link in the forms manager then your page will show up on it's own page - surrounded with whatever modules are enabled for that page. This is the simplest approach.

If you download the ChronoForms PlugIn then you can use it to show the form in any Joomla Content page.
