IE Form Not Always Submitting

rmcdonough 19 Dec, 2008
First off, thank you for such an amazing product.

For our charity site (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jimmyv.org">www.jimmyv.org</a><!-- w -->), we are using ChronoEngine to power our donation form. Unfortunately, a small portion of donors have not been able to donate after clicking 'submit'. The page just stays unchanged. We think it might be an IE specific issue, but have been trying everything we can think of to fix it. We've had trouble replicating the issue in-house, so are relying on getting donors who call in to help us.

1). We tried to eliminate user error by changing layouts, etc.
2). Some users didn't see the confirmation 'lightbox' popup we had to confirm donations, do we disabled so that people submit directly.

Would love any help.

Hi rmcdonough,

Got the link - I'll take a look in the morning.

Hi rmcdonough,

I've taken a look at your form and I don't see anything obvious that might cause those problems.

There are a couple of possibilities, one is that there's some kind of JavaScript conflict. You have a few scripts on the page - I've scanned through but don't see anything that looks likely to casue a problem.

The second - and perhaps more likely - problem is that there is some validation error that the submitter doesn't see. For example, if you leave the State field empty the form won't submit but the error message is most likely scrolled up and out of view.

I guess that it ought to be possible to add a little something to the validation script to have it add an error message down near the submit button - a red field saying - please scroll up for the error? In any case I'd change the css for the validation error mesages to make them stand out more.

Bob,

Appreciate you taking a look at it - I didn't see anything stand out either. Changing the CSS so the errors really standout definitely makes sense. My guess is this really is a case of ensuring the proper user behavior vs. any problems with the code. Since we've not been able to replicate these errors in-house, I'm hoping this is the case.

Thanks and have a great New Year.

Ryan
