Hello,
I am new to Joomla and I am using Chrono Forms. I did some searches but couldn't find exactly what I need.
What would be a proper Joomla programming style to create a form on Front page that will allow users to enter data (let's say new restaurants including name, description, menu etc.) so that this data becomes content and can be displayed later on as content listings and users can rate this content?

Also, what would be a good book that explains programming in Joomla, I went throught all the books on Amazon and bought one and they all seem to talk about using Administration and just setting up Joomla without any modifications or programming.

Quick answer as it's late here - come back and ask for more details.

You can create the form with ChronoForms - there is a content PlugIn that allows users to post new content. I'm not sure about rating but you could probably build that with another little ChronoForm.

There aren't any good books that I know of about programming Joomal 1.5 - the core code is very different from Mambo and Joomla 1.0. I searched through the Joomal books in a big store in London and bought one - it's not bad but really doesn't go into any detail. (I'll find the name and post it in the morning.)

The best docs so far are the developers Wiki which is slowly gaining content and the API docs - but they don't mean much until you have some idea of the main code chunks.
