hi there,
I did search for an answer to this problem but, after two weeks of trying to work it out, I just have to ask.
I'm running J1.5.8 and I'm trying to install Chronoforms 3.0.
When I click on the "Upload &Install" button, firefox does it's little "i'm working" circle thing and then, after a few minutes, just displays a blank page (the title is the same as the admin/index page but it's blank. Does that make sense?)
The annoying thing is that I had it working on 2.5 but I uninstalled it to get v3 on there and now I it won't work. I tried reinstalling 2.5 but no joy there (I had upgraded Joomla from 1.5.1 to 1.5.8 in case it was a version issue.) I can install other components (RSform went on ok but I don't like it much so I got rid of it. ChronoConnectivity went on ok too.)
I'm running a Qnap TS-209 II (which runs a cutback version of linux.) The directories are all 'writable' and FTP is correctly configured.
Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? What other information can I provide to make it easier.
Thanks
Jason
EDIT: ps: I should mention that this is a home website. It's not publicly hosted so there are no 'hosting' restrictions.

Hi Jason,
CF v3.0 is a big file because it includes the JavaScript editor code. Most likely there is some kind of server timeout with the upload. You can try using the manual upload options in Joomla - I forget exactly how it works - you FTP the files to your webserver and run the installation from there I think.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried the 'install from directory' option before but I always seem to get 'could not find valid package file'.
Do I unpack the zip file into the tmp directory and run it from there?
I'll give it a go when I get home from work tonight.
Cheers,
Jason

Super cool! It works!! Thanks Bob.
Just a quick note for anyone else reading this - when you extract the file, it's easier to create a "cform3" directory (or whatever) under the tmp directory and extract it to there because the zip extracts a bunch of files into whichever directory you're in. It's no big deal - it only takes a second to do - but it's just something that'll make it that little bit tidier.
(and now for that lesson on how to boil water...🙂 )
