Remove avatar

nabwood 18 Nov, 2008
Hi all, i have just installed chrono comments to our school website, as we are currently running some public consultations about our school. This extention is great for what we need (a simple form for people to post their comments on the subject). When i tested the extention and posted a comment, i then logged into the backend of our joomla site and published my comment, all was good. The only thing i noticed was that there was a tiny avatar next to my name, which looked like a little guy wearing a gas mask! I wondered if there was a way of removing this in the paramters at all, as our head teacher thinks its not suitable! LOL. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi nabwood,

It is a bit bizarre . . . I think that the image file is in chrono_comments/images/avatar1.png, you can replace it with something more suitable.

Hi, thanks for that. It did just cross my mind actually. I managed to find my way to the image via FTP client but there is a problem with permissions, i`ll just have a play around with them and see if i can replace the avatar1.png. Will let you know, thanks.

Well, its having none of it, i dont have permission to change permissions on this file! LOL, which is strange because i have full authority to change anything on our website and have full access to our server etc. as i am the website administrator. I have emailed our host to see if there is a problem with my permissions authority. if not, i`m not sure where to go from here? Hmmmmm....

Found a workaround  If anybody else has similar problems:
Before uploading the component to your site, unzip to your local machine, find the avatar1.png in the images folder, make your changes to the image using photoshop or similar, be sure to save it as the same name (avatar1.png) and be sure to save as a .png, not a .jpg (dont know if it makes a difference but best to ebb on the side of caution!) zip all the files back up then upload as normal! bobs yer uncle!
