How do I get my form onto a Joomla page

jbfagan 10 Nov, 2008
Hello - I am a very amateur joomla 1.5 user, and I simply want to know this:

1. I have created a Chronoform.
2. It works, and I can click the link on the form management page and see it.
3. It does not yet send me an email despite me telling it to, but I can live with that and experiment with it on another day!
4. I have linked it to a table, and I can see the results when I click on that. All fantastic..

BUT

How do I get the form to work on my joomla site? What do I have to do?

I have uploaded the Plugin from the Chronoform site, and I noted the bit about {chronocontact}form1{/chronocontact}, but where do you put this? Am I missing something very basic here? I keep reading advice about putting this code on my content page in a text area, but how? Is the content page the template page I can edit the html for?

Help. Suspect this is something quite basic and silly!

Jonathan, North Wales.

Hi Jonathan,

how do you want your form to look for your site visitors ? the form only in the page body or the form with some other article ?

Just on its own on the page - doesnt need to be with an article.

Hi Jonathan,

go to your mainmenu and click new then choose Chronoforms as the menu item type and at the next step, write the form name on the right side and save!

Ok - many thanks for the advice on the main menu.

I now have a form appearing!

Next question is: once someone has filled out the form, i am getting the following appearing on the screen:

Form passed the submissions limit (if enabled) OK
Form passed the Image verification (if enabled) OK
Form passed the server side validation (if enabled) OK
Form passed the plugins step (if enabled) OK

Very similar issue, but I have not done anything with the "Plugin" because I do not see any information on it and do not know what it's used for. I would like my form on actual pages or "Articles" inside of Joomla.

I appreciate it.

Awesome, I got it! 🙂 Now, I am trying to get it to send me the email and I'm not having any luck with that? I appreciate the quick response.

try to check the email setup tutorial at downloads/CF tutorials/ assuming you have V3.0 stable!

Ok, after two hours the emails come across. It's very strage. I'm using GoDaddy hosting and have not made any changes on that part. I'm not sure why there is a two hour delay, have you seen or heard of this before?
futuresounds 20 Nov, 2008
Small problem, GoDaddy is hosting my account, but not my domain. I am using active-domain to host my domain. (Bought it a while back before I knew about GoDaddy)

When I follow the directions you suggested I do not have a domain in the control panel. I can change settings in active-domain, but since this was so detailed, nervous to try to do something that could cause problems.

Also, I have my own SMPT server that I have been using for over a year and it's QUICK and using it for my normal site. I would like to use that if possible, how would I go about doing it?

<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.futuresoundsstudios.com">www.futuresoundsstudios.com</a><!-- w --> is the server.

Thanks,
Russell

Hi Futuresounds,

If you have your own smtp server then I think you can just set it up in the Joomla Site Global Configuration | Server panel. Here are the settings for my local mailserver. You'd need the address of your server in the SMTP host box.
