I have study all the posts regarding this issue but none have helped.
The forms with the security image work fine on my local computer, but not on the live site. I just get the red x.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the component (3.0 STABLE), made no difference.

Please check the FAQ "ImageVerification doesn't work" - I think it's #30 (but the numbers sometimes seem to change).

One more thought - try the 'without fonts' option please. If that works then check that the default.ttf file has been uploaded correctly. It should be in the components/com_chronocontact folder (might be worth re-uploading just in case it's corrupt.)
Then I think the next stop is the server logs and your ISP - this is only a small graphics job and shouldn't be causing any kind of server timeout.

Uploaded the whole com_chronocontact folder from my working computer and made the change to 'without fonts' - no improvement.
I'll get in contact with the ISP

It's now working again. UPDATE - ISP changed permissions on the components folder
This is what the ISP found in the error log.

Excellent, I'm glad it's working - though the anti-spam doesn't use MooTools so that looks like you've fixed two problems for the price of one.
