CF8 Joomla: Emails sending from Preview but not Frontend

nicola.rotolo 06 Dec, 2025

I am using CF8 on Joomla.

The form sends and receives emails only from the preview mode, but not from the frontend.

Both the PHP mail test and the SMTP mail test within the system configuration return a positive result, and the test emails arrive regularly. The debug log does not return any errors

How can I resolve this issue?

Hi nicola

Does the form send email when you use the "Front" preview link in the forms manager ?

If not then what is the debug shown after your finish the form ? (please remove any sensitive info from the debug before posting it)

Hi Max,

thank for your reply. The form send email only when I use the preview link in the form manager. When I test it in frontend (on line website) doesn't send any mail.

Hi Nicola

Yes, but testing on the frontend has 3 ways, using a Menu item, the plugin or the module, which way do you test the form on frontend ?

Please test the form on Frontend using the Front link in the forms manager, does the problem exist when you do that ?

Ciao Max,

I test my form on frontend using the module (and doesn't send mail)

When I use the preview mode in the form manager the problem doesnt exist (the users and I receve the e-mail).

Hi Nicola

When I use the preview mode in the form manager the problem doesnt exist

What is the Preview mode ? did you do this:

Please test the form on Frontend using the Front link in the forms manager

Hi Max,

yes, if I test the form on frontend using the Front in the form manager, it works

Ciao Nicola,

Great, then this means that most probably the reason of not getting the emails you had is cache, how do you display the form when it does not send ? using the plugin or the module ?

Hi Max,

I am displaying it using the module

Max_admin 09 Dec, 2025

Did you try to disable the cache in the module settings ?

Answer

Thank you, Max,

I disabled the cache and everything is working.

Sorry, but I would never have managed it without your help. Many thanks.

Do I need to do anything else?

Max_admin 11 Dec, 2025

Ciao Nicola

Great, no problem :)

Nothing else is needed as long as the forms are doing what you need them to do.
