Access to external database

ROBERT Christian 26 Jul, 2024

Hello,

I've created a database different from the one of Joomla because i don't want to mix my user tables and those of Joomla (i think it's better for administration and for new version of Joomla - perhaps am i wrong ?).

In the setting menu i fill the form for the database external information :

DB Name : the name of the base i see in phpmyadmin

DB Username : name used to connect to phpadmin (and used by Joomla)

DB Pass : idem

DB Host : localhost (i'm hosted by infomaniak and the 2 bases are seen in phpmyadmin in the same space)

DB Type : mysql

DB Prefix : empty

When i use a "read data" in the form, i see the name used for the DB Connection and i select it, but the list of source tables is empty.

I found no information on the web to know if it's correct or not. I need help.

Sorry for my english.

Christian

Answer

you can give your tables a different prefix and keep them on the same database

but the db connection should work if the db info are correct, Chronoforms uses the Joomla db connection for that, you may need to double check the db settings or try this on Chronoforms v8
