I often use the file upload field. load the data from the database often. I need file upload as required. The file name is also properly loaded from the database and displayed. BUT: I can't edit the form any further, Required prevents that.
the required message is displayed before the form is submitted or after ?
I think the file field should always be empty, try to reset it's value in the data array, and if you want to show that there is a file saved then you can show some label or HTML with the file name.
