Editing existing forms using drag and drop

brendonhatcher 08 Sep, 2008
Hi

I am new to chronoforms. What attracted me was the drag and drop form builder for my fairly non-technical clients (we'll handle validation, form headers etc, and leave the slog work of building and tweaking the form to them).

However, I can't see a way to change the order of fields once they have been added.
Once the form has been saved, I see no way to drag and drop new fields onto it.

Am I missing something?

Thanks
Brendon

Good question... I was just wondering this myself... there doesn't appear to be an "edit form in wizard" option today (that I can see), but hopefully that is something for Beta3.

Hi all,

you are correct, those are 2 missing features which I will try to add soon, I'm just concentrating on fixing all issues with the current release to add extra features!

Awesome! hey, but if you're on forum duty... Ok, who do we talk to in order to get you more programming time? 🤣

Hi Dan,

Well yes, I agree, Bob was helping me much with this but about 10 days ago he disappeared and I know nothing about him yet 😟 still trying to contact him!

Thanks!

Hi Max,

I am testing this beta2 version and it looks great.

I have now created a form with 2 fields using the wizard.
Want to edit this form to add another field, and just cannot figure out how...?

I can copy the html to dreamweaver, add another field there and paste it back, but the syntax will not be the same unless i use the same sytax as automatic created.
When i press the wizard button (having the form selected) i do not get any of the existing fields available.

How will you say will be the best way to edit a form ?

Hi hustad, editing forms with wizard is not available yet, the only way now is to use dreamweaver or any editor and try to add the same code structure! just copy some field and edit it!

ok🙂

Is it possible to do as before (1.x version) to make the whole form in dreamweaver and just paste the code into chronoforms (without using the field structure that chronoforms creates)?
danieli 09 Sep, 2008
Absolutely. And if you are e-mailing the results of the form, chronoforms now uses the Joomla Editor to set the e-mail template as opposed to a code block. I used the same code I copied from FrontPage (minus the HTML, header, and body tags)... so just switch the editor to HTML (code) view and paste in your code if required.

Great!

Thanks for clearing this up for me :-)

I really am amazed by this extention, a very helpful tool :-)
danieli 09 Sep, 2008
Agreed! I just hope that when the Wizard is further upgraded to support editing, that we aren't forced to use it... I like my code blocks
Max_admin 09 Sep, 2008
of course nobody will be forced to use the wizard, absolute customization was the key for ChronoForms success, I added the wizard ONLY because some novice users was saying this tool is for developers only, so its now for everybody!🙂
