Version 3.0 is Joomal 2.5.x only - don't try to use it on Joomla 1.0.x
Your best bet is probably to plan to upgrade your site to Joomla 1.5. The migrator works quite well for the core site - the problem will be if you have extensions that don't run on 1.5.
And notice that you can't easily upgrade your forms from CF 2.5 to 3.0.
