New Form = blank page

Jure 23 Aug, 2008
Hi,

I installed chronoforms 3.0 beta2 on a new website with joomla 1.5. Created simple form with wizard but nothing shows up when I try to open the form. All I see is blank page. Tried to edit the form, make a simple form but nothing works. Blank page all the time. Removed beta2 and installed 2.5 J1.5 RC3 and that one worked.

What could be going wrong with 3.0?

Thanks,
Jure

Hi Jure,

few users have this issue but I can't reproduce it here, I would ask you to try to set GZip to off if it was ON!

Turned Gzip OFF but I still get the same problem. Any other ideas?

Hi Jure, Ok, lets be specific, you see a full browser blank page or just a blank body area but the menus and joomla template appears ?

There just full browser blank page. No content at all.

Thanks,

Hi Jure,

are you in legacy mode ? can you set Joomla error reporting to "show all" in joomla global config and tell me about any errors you see on the blank page ?

Yes legacy mode. I turned off legacy too but that didn't fix the problem. I also turned on error reporting but no errors were shown, just blank page.

Hi,

I think one of your legacy modules is making the problem, some of them don't define all global variables! which legacy modules do you have ?

It looks like uninstalling JUGA! fixed the problem. I'll try to install newest version of juga and test again.

I have the same problem but with a twist. If I chose Chronoforms in the Menus -> Main Menu I will get this blank page. If I use the external link and use the link in the Chronoforms backend, then the form renders correctly. This only disadvantage to using the later is that my template doesn't render all the pieces correctly because it thinks it's an external link.

Is this a different problem or is it still a Legacy problem?

An Update

As soon as I created a new form, it worked fine. Don't know why you need two forms in a listing for the Menu -> Main Menu -> Type Chronoform to work. A bit of a puzzle.....
Max_admin 31 Aug, 2008
yes strange, I will look into this issue, moving to bugs forums.

I apologize but it looks like my last post is wrong. I had changed it back to Menu -> Main Menu -> Chronoforms and it had worked but now it's not. I guess it's because it was still drawing from the cache. The having to have two forms thread is irrelevant. So back to original problem (menu Chronoforms generates blank page) .... sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

what type of blank page ? complete browser blank page? you have V3 ?

I have installed Chronoforms 3.0 J1.5 BETA 2 and the one previous V2.5_J1.5_RC3.1 did not have this problem.

The page is completely blank as mentioned above, meaning no template, no message - IE, FireFox or otherwise, nothing - a blank browser window.

I'm using Joomla 1.5.6 and core SEF is enabled, gzip compression is disabled.

legacy mode ? do you have too many other extensions installed ?

Yes I have a lot of other extensions installed and I have Legacy mode turned on.
Max_admin 01 Sep, 2008
Hi, yes, that's it, too many legacy extensions are not coded very well and may interfere with the way ChronoForms native J1.5 works, specially with V3.0 because some classes are loaded before functions, this can't be fixed except by fixing those components or you should use V2.5 then!

Max
