How do I upgrade my Chronoform to Latest Version?

d3vilr3d 19 Aug, 2008
Hi Guys,

My Chronoform version is v2.5 something. I would like to upgrade to the latest beta version. How would I go about doing that without losing any existing form or data??

Thanks,
William

Hi William,

As far as I know the only way to do this so far is to rebuild your forms in the new version. There is no upgrade path yet.

I'd suggest that you hold off upgrading exisiting sites for a bit. Fine to use the latest beta on new sites though.

I have version 2.3.7 and want to upgrade. I have no data yet, but I do have a very complex form. If I do a back up of the form, will it import or restore into the new upgrade?

No you cannot restore a CF2.5 Backup in CF3.... I recreated all my forms on my "play" Joomla system... and when I am ready to update my Live, I can then backup/restore the "migrated" form to live.

It was not hard for me to migrate my old forms to the new version... but I had very little code in the On Submit to worry about.

To add the form body is purely a copy/paste... but what was awesome was the ability to shrink down my bit of On Submit code that I was using to either override the TO or CC... this code was replaced by Dynamic To and CC e-mail properties which are fantastic.

I did however keep my Subject code in On Sumbit as I do still manipulate that a bit (concatenate a string with a form variable) and then threw the field name into a Dynamic Subject as well.

So as far as my experience went... the physical form layout was 100% migrated with eases as it was a pure copy/paste... the php manipulations you may be doing with your form should be the only parts that may need a bit of thought in the new format.

Hi emrfixit,

danieli's info is correct, they are for J1.5, if you meant to upgrade to 2.3.9 which is the latest J1.0.x version then no problems, backup your form at the forms management then uninstall Chronoforms and install 2.3.9 and restore the form!
