Autocomplete no longer shows "no results found"

An autocomplete dropdown used to show "No results found" if the read data was empty, but now it shows nothing. Using {var:read_data_name/=NO RESULTS} doesn't appear to work, neither does just returning =NO RESULTS in the Not Found event.
