backup to excel 0Bytes

Hi, I'm using
- Joomla 1.5.3
- chronoforms Chrono Contact 2.5 J1.5 RC3.1 updated to latest version Thursday, 24 July 2008 08:38
- PHP Version 4.4.4-8+etch6

Problem: Backup to excel delivers an empty excel-file with 0Bytes.Excel alerts: File could not be opened

If I backup to cvs everthing is correct
If I backup in Phpmyadmin to xls-file everything is correct.
I thought it could be a Problem with german Sonderzeichen ä,ü,ö... I changed this like shown in the forumarticles but still it does not work
Tried it with testform including none of this signs, still does not work

Hopefully someone could help

Do you have another test site ? can you test this with the latest BETA available ? I have updated many parts in the excel backup files/code !

Install latest beta but sorry to say it didnt work
I have no idea why i cant backup to excel.

Do you have any ideas what else i can test to find the reason? Thanx in advance juergen

Hi juergen,

try it from another browser, if it do the same then its some issue with the server config itself and I have no idea why this happens, try to google "spreadsheet php pear" and 0 Kb maybe you find some answer!

also you may try again on a PHP5 server although it should work on PHP4 too!

Hi Max,
as far as I can see it a server config problem -- tmp-folder location and privileges
has nothing to do with the Browser nor with beta version
I try to solve the problem in the next few days
Thank you very much for the very helpful advices - dont know if I should post the solution (?) because it is a very specific problem please let me know
