Submitter's email address as 'from' address

driv 29 Jun, 2018
Hello,
I'm trying to configure V6 so that the form appears to originate from the sender - using the form data.
โ€‹
I found this link: https://www.chronoengine.com/forums/posts/t101318/submitters-email-address-as-fromaddress
Although it appears to be for an earlier version.
โ€‹
How would I go about doing this for Chronoforms version 6?

Thanks.๐Ÿ™‚

Hi driv,

You can use a shortcode like {data:email} in the Reply To Email and Reply To Name boxes of the Email action. You can do the same with teh From boxes but if you do it is likely that the email will be marked as probable spam and may be dropped before delivery.

Thanks Bob, that's most helpful. (I'm still finding my way around V6).

I'm surprised at the spam aspect though. Is this the case for legitimate emails as well?
I mean, if an email originates from fred@example.com, it's going to have fred@example.com as a FROM address whether it's via my site's form or via fred's email client - isn't it?

Thanks again.๐Ÿ™‚

The form is on YOUR website, and the email is originating from YOUR domain.

For example - you want me to be able to send people emails and have it look like it's coming from your email address? No, which is why if I tried to do that most email servers would discard the email before bothering to route it anywhere.

Ahhh Gotcha!
Thanks for the explanation.๐Ÿ™‚
