Chronoforms 6 - Textarea field - how to show characters count and cut out exceeding characters automatically?

Hello,
I see that the textarea field has an option to set maximum characters allowed, but how to show the count and cut out exceeding characters automatically? Currently if I paste a text which exceeds the maximum allowed characters the field just shows an error.

I think that you'd need to write JavaScript to do that. I wrote a FAQ for an older version of CF that will give you some clues.
