Recaptch failing

trogladyte 28 Feb, 2018
Someone else set up 3 forms on a site for me and I have no idea about working with Chronoforms - WAY beyond me. Any form I try to go to shows:

Cannot contact reCAPTCHA. Check your connection and try again.

I have the Recaptcha plugin activated in Joomla with a valid site and secret key in it. The forms have the Recaptcha element inserted. I did find there was an area in each form to enter the secret key again which I did, but still getting the error.

Hi trogladyte ,

Which version of ChronoForms are you using?

I think that Google now requires HTTPS on the site to contact ReCaptcha (they also have a new version available sometimes called NoCaptcha).

Hi Bob

V5 installed. Didn't realize Google is requiring https, but it makes sense since they're pushing that barrow. I have all my sites on SSLs so have never seen that before. This site, however, is a one off edit I did a while back and isn't on my server and isn't https.

Hi Bob

I just did a test on this issue and the requirement for having https is incorrect - at least with the other forms component I use - JSN UniForm. If you look at http://qranch.com/form, you'll see Recaptcha workign quite happily, whereas it is not on any of the CF forms.

OK - I figured it out. I Know CF is super powerful, but 1. I never need that much power, and 2, I have never learned to use it. After some poking my nose around in each form, I found that the Recaptcha keys were not entered correctly in the "Setup" portion of the form. Once I changed them to the correct keys, the Recaptcha commenced working.

Thus, I can confirm that Recaptcha works on non-secure sites (at least for now....)
