Populate a Joomla database with Excel (or CSV) File

I don't know if this is a CCv6 or CFv6 question, or maybe both.

I have a new Joomla site and I want to import data from Excel spreadsheets to initially populate the files. What is the best and easiest way to to do it?

I've read several posts, but they are a few years old. So I'm hoping that there is some capability in the new versions.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Karen,

MySQL has an Excel extension that you can use to do this - provided that you can access your Joomla! database remotely this is one of the easiest ways to do it.
