Language(s)

SPABO 09 Apr, 2017
Hi Max,

It seems there an option to change the (defaukt??) language?

If I choose nl_NL, there the option to build.

But when I change a string, it does not save, and getting errors :
Error saving the language file.

I used nl_NL

Clicked on build

Alle the strings pop up

Then I changed only the following:

NAME = "Name" to
NAME = "Naam"

Then I clicked on "Save as Custom"

It does not save....

I think that this maybe a file permissions problem, try to update the English language file and check if it works ?

Nope, tried this already, same problem, cannot save eg update
Max_admin 09 Apr, 2017
I think its the permissions, you can use the extension for now and when you are ready to translate it you can just take a copy of the file on server then translate and rename it then upload it again.

Hi Max,

Not sure what you are trying to say..

Permissions issue? Not that I'm aware of...

Where can I find this (ini) file ??
Max_admin 09 Apr, 2017
Hi Kees,

I mean the permissions to create the language file by Chronoforms, it was denied the creation, usually this is caused by some permissions problem, usually the user running the Apache process does not have enough permissions to create files on the server.

Hi Max,
No idea, but what about this you said

you can use the extension for now and when you are ready to translate it you can just take a copy of the file on server then translate and rename it then upload it again.

Where is the language file stored??

Hi Kees,

This is not stored, it can only be created, I can send that to you if you are going to do it that way.

I leave it for now Max
I will dig into the permissions, maybe I have to det Apache>>Owner in DirectAdmin area

Maybe for the future to work with language ini files,
SPABO 12 Apr, 2017
Hi Max,
Still not sure if I understand what you are saying:

1 The current "language" is en_GB. Is this correct
2 This in incorperated in teh component and is not a seperate file?
3 But you can create a new file, .e.g. nl_NL ? Is this correct? Is this an ini file?
4 If created a new tarnslation of file, where can I choose for this specific langauge?

Maybe a tutorial supperted by a video??

Next this to this:
If you know it could give saving problems, why did you follow this route?

My advise:
Make it work on a std. language file, en-GB.com_chronoformsV6.ini as a start...
Later on to add other languages, eg fr-FR, nl-NL, etc

Anyway, when there is a ini file, user can simply download it with FTP, change it a they wish and reload it.

Pls advise

Kind regards

Kees

Hi Kees,

#1,2,3 -> correct

#4, its loaded automatically if the site language is Dutch.

The permissions issue does not happen all the time, its server dependent.

If you are ready to translate then please let me know and I can send you the English language file.

Max

Hi Kees,

This is the path where the file is going to be saved by Chronoforms when you hit "save":
JOOMLA\administrator\components\com_chronoforms6\chronoforms\locales\

I can send you the English file by email, please send me a message using the "Contact us" page.
