Impossible to open form in administrator (Joomla 3.6.5)

marco09 23 Mar, 2017
Hi Bob,

suddenly my Chromo form5 on Joomla is not editable any more (in Administrator -> Components). When I click on the form name, the screen stay blocked with a load wheel, for ever.
In the front-end the form appears, it is compilable, but the captcha code is not visible and so no one can use it.
What may be??

Thanks.

Hi marco09,

What has changed recently on the site - have you upgraded Joomla!, or PHP?

The last change was to use HTTPS for the domain ( https://www.asccanews.it ). Before was HTTP. Here the public page: https://www.asccanews.it/contattaci/richiesta-iscrizione

Now I set a message in that page, there isn't the form there.

Hi marco09,

Hard to make any guess - the change to https might have hidden the Captcha if the Captcha link wasn't also using https. That doesn't explain the problem with the Form Admin though - sometimes that happened with an upgrade to Joomla!

To fix the problem I may remove the ChronoForm component, reinstall the last version (7 ?), and re-create the form ex-novo, right ?
Thanks.

Hi Marco,

Did your host upgrade the PHP ? if yes then what is the new version ?

You can take a form backup, restore it on another website (maybe local one) with Chronoforms5 and edit it there then restore it back to the live site, this is the easy solution, since its not known why it has stopped working.

And if you are willing to rebuild the form then you can wait few days for the new v6 which has some new features.

PHP is 5.5.31 and it's OK, I have others sites with ChronoForms on the same host and they works correctly.
I have no backup. So I prefer make a new form removing the component and re-installing ChronoForm. I can't wait for v.6.

Thanks a lot, very gentle.

I don't believe this will fix the problem, but you can take a form backup, and restore it on the fresh install of Chronoforms5.

v6 first release is supposed to be ready this weekend, if you want I can send you the latest files today, just let me know the form features you are going to use.

Ok Bob, I make it!
The fact that the form was unaccessible was a mystery. I have re-installed ChronoForm and works correctly.
The recaptcha code need the option "Yes" in the Setup tab -> Load ReCaptcha for SSL Server parameter due to the change of HTTP to HTTPS.
