It depends on the Gateway and on what you need to do.
You can create a mini-form in a Thank You page with a button that submits to a gateway.
You can embed a hosted payment button
You can redirect the user with data to a payment page
You can submit using cURL if you have sufficient data
You can use an API from the payment gateway and link to that using Custom Code actions.
