Chrono Forum Register/Login Problem

a1003520 04 Dec, 2016
Hi
I have succesfully installed the ChronoForum to my site which I am using for a final year thesis. However there is a little problem. I couldnt find the feature when people can register/login in before they can post on comment on the forum.. At the moment, anyone can just login and comment and they will be seen as a guest.. But I want the option of register and login before posting. So the username can appear in the Author column..

I will be glad if someone could help out

Hi,

You have to configure the permissions in the forum to allow posting for logged in users only, then users will not be able to post before they login.

Hi
Thanks for your urgent response. If I get you correctly, are you refering to the link I attached below. I actually set the Display/Access the forums for Administrator and Registered users to allow. After I refreshed the main page, I only got a blank page.. Normally, I want to set the platform where I will be able to register/login.. You can see the link here, just click join the forum

Don't set any groups to "Denied", just use "Allowed" or "Not set" or "Inherited", this is a confusing issue which should be fixed in the next update.

Also, the "Access" means accessing the forums which should be allowed for everybody, but you need to control the "Post replies" and "create topics".

Thanks very much for that insight.. I followed your instruction. The issue is partially solved now. When I controlled the Permission and refreshed the page, it show

Access denied, you are not permitted to access this resource, you may not be logged in or your account may not have enough permissions.

Now the main issue, is there any settings in the Chrono Component where I need to invoke the registration/Login OR will I install another joomla register/login extension.. and if yes, how do I connect it with the Chrono Forum?

Hi,

There is an "Auto login redirect" setting in the settings area which you can enable, this will redirect to the login page if the user should login.
