Code displays rather than form... why?

I have two sites. I did identical (as fas as I could tell) re-installations of Chronoforms so that I had the newest version. One site it works on, the other rather displaying the form it displays the code {chronocontact}ContactForm{/chronocontact}. The sites are on two different servers. It is a permissions problem or is something else going on?

Most likely either the Mambot isn't installed or isn't published.

OK, I installed the ChronoForms Bot 0.6 J1.5.zip it said it was done. But still no form.

You need to publish the mambot in the Plugin manager.
