Emails are not beeing send - neither 4 nor 5 version

Batman 24 Oct, 2016
Hello,

after reading all workarounds I am a bit frustrated. Neither the 4.0.7 version nor the latest 5 Version sends mails. Even though it already worked. I updated to the latest 4.0.7 version because of an error in the backend. Relative URL are set to "NO". I have no idea at the moment where to search. F1 F1 F1 .. Hope you can help me.😟

Cheers
Eric

Hi Eric,

Please drag a Debugger action into the On Submit event, then submit the form and post the debug - including the 'dummy emails' results here.

Note: if you are using the Easy Wizard you can turn on Debug on the Others tab in CFv4 or the Setup tab in CFv5.

Hi Batman,

There is no evidence of an email action in either case - do you have an email set up and enabled in your forms?

Hi Batman,

I just found the message with the email. That records that it was sent successfully - which actually means that the Joomla! mailer didn't record any errors. BUT - the From and To email addresses are the same so it was most likely dropped by your mail service. Gmail does this - why would you send yourself an email?

Hi Bob,

i changed the email adresses. See Screen (PM). The recipient has no spam filters or what so ever.
Still no email arrived.

HI Batman,

By all means PM me the site URL, the form name, and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Hi Batman,

I have created a new bob_email_test that just accepts an email address and sends an email to it. That is working OK so the site email is fine.

I see two problems with your form.

+ The Email action is in the On Load event so it will be sent when the form loads - normally you want it sent when the form submits.

+ The From Email address in the action does not match the From email in the Site Global Configuration Mail Settings (my test form does).

Dear Bob,

first of all thank you very much for having a look at the problem. After checking the problems and rearranging the event I unfortunatelly still dont get an email. the "dynamic to" field works (used as a copy for the user) but even when using a different mail for the "to" input field I dont get an mail.

Aaaaah .. help .. help .. After playing around with the emails I realised that I used an email account that did NOT exist!! Details how this could happen -> PM.
Nevertheless . as soon as I use an address which does not belong to the site/server the mails are not beeing send. I need to use an account that refers to the server.
Thank you for your support .. and now it is time for happy updating the severe security joomla update 😉
