I reinstalled the latest version that was installed before and it says it successfully installed but there is no ChronoForms listed in the components section or on the components drop down menu. I've tried reinstalling it three times and nothing shows up in the components after installation.
Now I'm feeling really stupid! How can I start fresh?
Hi bullfn33,
Joomla is not too good with its feedback messages. Please do a manual uninstall:[*]Backup the databse and take backup copies of any forms you want to keep[*]Remove both the administrator/components/com_chronocontact and components/com_chronocontact folders and all contents.[*]In the database remove all xxx_chrono_contact_ . . . and xxx_chronoforms_nn tables[*]Reinstall ChronoFormsBob
This is really strange. I deleted the two main CF directories like you said and then deleted all of the CF database tables and then reinstalled. Once again, it said the installation was successful but no CF in the components section or on the drop down menu.
Is there anything else that is CF related that's not getting deleted somewhere else?
The only strange thing that I noticed was before I uninstalled the first time, accidentally, there were two CF's listed under the components section. That's why I accidentally uninstalled CF in the first place because I was wondering why there were two of the same component listed. By uninstalling one it uninstalled both.
If all else fails I guess I could just reinstall Joomla since I haven't done anything with it outside of testing CF stuff.
I just went ahead and reinstalled Joomla and then CF and it worked fine, no worries. I'm sure whatever caused the mix up was somehow caused by me.
Thanks again!
Hi Bullfn33,
Glad that it's sorted, I did miss one entry, there will be records in a couple of the Joomla tables to record the component and the plugin? They aren't usually a problem though.
Bob
I'm new to CF, but it seems to be a great component.
However, I've run into exactly the same problem referred to in this thread.
I (stupidly) uninstalled the component V 3.0, reinstalled (successfully, according to Joomla 1.5.5), but this time CF does not appear in component list or in dropdown menu backend.
Deleted folders manually through ftp:
/administrator/components/com_chronocontact
/components/com_chronocontact
Also dropped the four CF tables in the DB.
With this procedure of removing old files manually, I've now tried re-installing four times, each time "successful" install, but no visible component in Admin.
Posted to the joomla forum, but no-one gave a definite answer.
Assistance appreciated!
Hi joomjan,
Did you look into joomla forums for the same issue with any other Joomla component, something general ? where is the forum post you made on Joomla forums ?

Hi Max,
It's showing zero records in all three tables.

Hi Bob,
not a problem, he cant see the Chronoforms menu items so we need to check the _components table for chronoforms records.

Hi Max,
Of course, brain not switched on yet today.

Managed to restore a backup form using the back door URL you supplied. This way, the forms manager is at least in part availalble. Better than nothing
I don't know if this has any implications, but when the forms manager page loads, it always converts from UTF-8 to ISO.
Here is a new image. As you see, now only one of the three tables has null records.

Here is the best I can do for the component structure, hope this is what you need?

While I'm at it:
I also have problems sending the form, even with validation off. It appears to have been sent, but nothing goes through. Something wrong with the send button input?
Articles can be sent from the joomla site without problems.
Dropdown menus seem to ignore first option, not accepting this as a valid selection. Apart from this, no error messages.

Hi joomjan,
lets solve the main problem here and please add another post for the other issues, in the components table records I cant see any record with "com_chronocontact" in the options column, are you sure that those are all records in the table and there is nothing in page 2 ?

Hi Max
Agreed, let's concentrate on the main issue here. Excuse my haste, I do have some pressure on my back to resolve this.
Now there suddenly is one more table row in the db. After restoring backup file (through backdoor url) I pressed "create table". Presumably this is the reason?
However, still no sign of component in component dropdown backend.
Hi joomjan,
I didnt mean this, I meant to ask if jos_components has any other pages other than the one you added its screenshot here!

Hi joomjan,
According to the PHPMyAdmin listing jos_components has 41 entries but the detailed listing only shows the first 30 of them - see the SQL at the top has LIMIT 30 in it.

Good, now delete records 56 and 57, then try to reinstall Chronoforms, does it appears this time ?

Oh, and backup the table before doing this!

Hello Max (or Greyhead)
Before I go to it: Is it a good idea or not first to (manually) uninstall V 3.0 Beta 1 and replace it with the new Beta 2?
:D Solved
I deleted the two records in the db, still no visible chronoform component in admin dropdown.
Then removed the Beta 1 version and installed Beta 2. Now component is present in dropdown menu.
Problem solved - so far!
Thanks alot for rapid response, support and patience with a form newbie.
great, then menu items should be removed before an uninstall! I will rethink about this feature!
