Couple questions and comments.

First off, I'm glad I found this. I'm coming from phpBB3 and was using the p8pbb bridge to keep my board and site in sync, it was a nightmare! With nearly 40k users I was constantly facing bugs and broken items. So far this component is a complete difference and everything seems to just work.

My questions are this; what is the point of announcements in this forum? In other forums announcements would display in all boards and on the forum root to make sure they were visible to users, this forum does not seem to do that. Is there a way this could be considered for implementation?

My other comment is; is there any plan to expand the options available to user profiles? Would be nice if users could enter more info such as screen names, emails, option to show hide email etc...

Also built in banning options would be nice. Since I have such a busy forum, spam and bots are always a concern.

Hi jhebbel,

Under Settings > General > Board Message can be used to show a message above your board everywhere.

Unfortunately there is no way to extend the profile system or ban users, but for this and for banning you may use other Joomla extensions.

That's like a MOTD type thing, other boards have a option for posts that are seen globally called announcements. You have the same option but it doesn't seem to do anything. Are there plans to implement this?

When you are running a board with tens of thousands of users, jumping back and forth between joomla administration and the forums to manage users is not very intuitive, either a built in system for banning or adding hooks to allow 3rd party developers to develop ChronoForums plugins for such things would be nice.

Also what is chronoComunity? I cannot find it anywhere. Does this expand the profile system?

Hi jhebbel,

IMO, other boards are not complete CMSs, you should use the CMS tools in Joomla to do what you need, why would you want to ban users of the forum but not from the whole site ? same for managing them, it would be messy to do that in the forum system.

ChronoCommunity is an under development profiles system.

What does the CMS have to do with announcements on boards and forums? It would be nice if chronoforms behaved more like other forums and did this, I do NOT want it to just be a message, but rather a global announcement that acts just like every other topic that ban be replied to etc only it is visible from all boards and forums. Every other form, CMS or not, treats global announcements this way, its really helpful for us admins that like to push important news in a topic type medium.

And I do want to ban the user from the whole site, but It would be nice if there was a feature to do this from within the forum instead of having to go through the extra steps of logging into the back end and track down the user then do it from there.

Code wise it's not very difficult so If I have to do it myself so be it, just thought the project itself could benefit from some features that make some tasks a little bit more intuitive.
