HostGator don't send email using php-Mailer

FuzMic 13 Nov, 2015
Hi friend

Long time since i last disturb your smart Head, reason: Chronoforms v5.0 works perfectly in Godaddy using phpMailer.

However a week ago i uploaded a website to Hostgator and using the php-Mailer, it failed to deliver the mails. In the Joomla backend testing of the form, mail delivery is perfect but not in the front end, nothing happens

I then notice in the Chronoforms "Setting" there is no option for php-Mailer in the case of Hostgator. In goDaddy where it works, the php-Mailer option is there, not just Yes / No.

Hope the image attachment help to tell the story.

Hi FuzMic,

By default ChronoForms will use the Joomla! Mailer settings. If they are correct then the mails should send. You only need the settings in ChronoForms if you want to use a different SMTP server for some reason.

The 'back-end' testing is in the front-end so the mailer is working OK - there is a different problem if the mails aren't being sent. I suspect that the form is not submitting. Please see this FAQ

Bob i knew you will come to our rescue, was just keeping my fingers cross. I actually read this FAQ few hours ago and just skim it because i was sure what it all means. But since this is where the problem lies i will examine it carefully from the lead.

From the looks of it the key line in the FAQ IS "..Form Action URL and it is not submitting to ChronoForms. " and the FAQ talks about how to find the cause. I will try to figure it out and will come back either way. Thanks you always.

Bob following the FAQ

Step 1. The form has url as http://ptgilearn.com/index.php?option=com_chronoforms5&chronoform=Enquiry
& it submit sending the email rightly as stated in my first part of this thread. So my conclusion this is not the problem

Step 2. SEL URL - not sure is it is this and don't know how to resolve this, too deep, so i differ and move to 3 in the hope that the solution lies there but...

Step 3 Relative URL set = No, can't find this see attached. So stuck again. Help

Should i take the hidden menu way out or stay on steps 2 & 3

Sorry mate found the Relative URL, now trying to set to No.
FuzMic 13 Nov, 2015
Just tested setting to Relative URL to No, still not sending email.
FuzMic 13 Nov, 2015
Just tested with using a hidden Menu > menu item enquiry-submit with Enquiry form & Submit Event. Set at rendering > Action url to alias enquiry-submit, but get a 404 error at the front end testing, no problem at testForm at back end.

Bob exhausted help!

One more point, my form is in an article.
FuzMic 13 Nov, 2015
I just tested with the form NOT in an article, viola, mail sent.
Now my issue, how to have the form in an article and still work. Please help.
FuzMic 13 Nov, 2015
Funny though, in GoDaddy, the forms are also in a article, there is no problem, so what is really happening. Bob you can enlighten me. Thank you for your patience.

Summarisizng:

After a full round, it only confirm that my problem is the c..form is in an article, hence Bob advise to read the FAQ "form did not submit" is correct.

However after all the tweaking following the FAQ the following is clear but i still cannot find the fix or understand the exact cause
1 Setting the render.HTML Relative URL did not solve it (Why not?)
2 Using a Action URL of a hidden menu with a menu.item tie to the same form to submit, cause error 404. I think if i can understand what cause error 404, the fix should be near. Please advise.
3 Unless it is somehow related to SEF URL which is not clear to me. Only unresolved observation is in GoDaddy, a c..form in an article does not produce this problem. If we can get the answer to this, the fix should be be near too.

Stlll trying to fix. If all else fail i will only link a menu to a c..form and not to {chronoforms5}Form_name{/chronoforms5} in a article.

Bob

I already located the relative URL before my last post ie SUMMARY, however setting Relative URL to NO it did not work either as stated in my SUMMARY. Humor me to read the summary; your great mind may find an answer but not me. Thanks again

Hi FuzMic,

Sorry, It looks as though I was a few posts behind when I replied :-(

By all means PM me the site URL, the form name, and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

I just notice 1st form already working with Relative URL set to No. I tried on other form it did not work, what did you do. Can't wait to see what you did.

All working did you do anything. I remove your superadmin since it is all done. Actually the Relative URL works i think, i need to remove the cache to test. Thanks anyway
GreyHead 15 Nov, 2015
Hi FuzMic,

Good to hear that it is working - I didn't do anything. It was still on my to-do list to login.

Maybe something was cached and time passing has cleared the cache???

Bob you are working too hard, kind and responsible that's why. Thus with all with tweaking i did a summary to help out as i believe your to-list could be quite massive. Always appreciate your follow through and kind assistance. God bless.
