Backup restore not working

ilansch 10 Aug, 2015
Hi,

I created a backup of a connection and after that by mistake I deleted the connection; I was deleting a different connection but didn't notice that the one I just backed up was still selected, so by mistake deleted both (It would be nice feature to alert the user with the number of connections to be deleted), in any case I thought I was lucky because I could just restore the backup I just made, but I'm not that lucky because when I try to restore it I receive the error message:
Restore error!
There is noting in the joomla log (or the apache log) regarding the error.

Is there anything I could do?

Thanks in advance

Hi ilansch,

I don't know enough about CC to help here.

Looking at the code the Restore Error message is pretty basic, it will show if there is no file; if there is not a full matching entry in $_FILES, and if the file-type is not .cc5bak

You can send me your backup file if you like and I'll see if it will restore on my test site.

That's very nice of you I really appreciate it.

How should I send it to you? (I thought of a PM but I see that it doesn't have the option of attaching files).

Thanks again

Just so others know, the problem was with the joomla file permissions.

With the help of Bob we found that it was a permissions issue (the joomla FTP option can not be used with the CC restore) I couldn't find the exact combination of permissions needed (didn't wanted to invest so much more time), so I just ended up changing to 777 the whole joomla directory for the connection to be restored and once I had it back I reset again the original joomla permissions (in my case 755), and everything is now working.

Answer
Hi ilansch,

The problem that I have seen is that if FTP is enabled in the Site Global configuration then the Joomla! Files methods try to use FTP. If the FTP user doesn’t have the same permissions as the Joomla! user then the action fails. You can usually get round this by temporarily disabling FTP in the site global settings.
