Cannot access setup interface

poloman 09 Aug, 2015
Sure having a hard time with this. I created a simple contact form but didn't know I needed a Dbase save action until I had saved the form. Up until I saved, I could drag what I needed in the set up tab. Can no longer do that. I have watched the videos but the program doesn't act the way it does in the video. In the setup tab, I have tab with email on it. The form works but will not save to the database.
I have created much of the design work for a much larger form and am concerned that I will have to start over.
Your help will be much appreciated.

Hi poloman,

After saving you should still be able to re-edit the form and drag new actions into the On Submit event. What exactly happens when you try?

There's a video here of a DB Save in CFv5

I cannot access the drag and drop interface. I click on the set up tab. There is a bar with email2 in it. Thanks for your quick response.

I have watched the Dbase save video 3 times thinking I had missed something. The drag and drop interface is not available. It was when I built the form.

Hi poloman,

By all means PM me the site URL, the form name, and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Hi Poloman,

Fixed I think, the problem was that the form had been switched back to Simple Mode from Advanced and you can't add new actions in Simple mode. It's generally not a good idea to make the change that way round.

Thank you very much. It is fixed. I am just getting familiar with your system. So I now have the same problem with the large form. How do I fix the problem?

either I figured it out or you fixed it. On track now. Thanks

Help. I'm having the same problem. The setup drag and drop interface is gone. It was there when i first installed ChronoForm, but it is not there now. The problem does not appear to be within the form (ie switching between Simple and Advanced) because when I click on Create a NewSimple form the drag and drop Setup menu is not there.

What's the difference between Email0 and Email4? The Wizard appears to have generated code. Is that sufficient? I'm just trying to create a simple email form.

Hi Saturn1,

That sounds as if there may be a JavaScript error on the page? Do you see any errors in your browser web developer tools?

Hi GreyHead,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not using any fancy JavaScript, just the latest version of Joomla Component editor. I don't see any error messages on the screen when I'm at the Setup page, but there are 16 issues listed on the Forms Manager page of the ChronoForms component for my template that I created, presumably because I'm not able to complete the setup and things like "what to do on Submit" haven't been entered.

I did copy the demo-basic-contact template as a work around and the new form copy has the drag and drop menu, However it's not there whenever I click the "+New Simple" button - only the Setup with multiple menu options

JavaScript 8
CSS 7
Captcha 2
Uploads 9
Data Save 11
Email 0
Email 1
Thanks Message 4
Debug 12

I don't mind if that's what it wants to default to, just tell me where the documentation is that shows me how to use that Setup screen (I prefer drag and drop but will work with what I've been given).

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi poloman,

The Simple Wizard doesn't have the Drag and Drop on the Setup tab - a set of common actions are added for you. If you want extra actions use the New Wizard, or change the Type to Advanced on the General tab (but don't then try changing back as you may lose edits).
