I am trying to place a captcha on my forms. I have added the field but whenever I try to send a test form it keeps telling me an invalid code was entered when I know I am typing the correct one. Tried it several times, with true type fonts set on or off and neither works.
Anyone have any idea what I can do to make this work?
Have seen this video, but it is several years old and the screens are totally different than what I am seeing. Anymore advice?
Hi ladybee46,
The method you use is the same for all versions of CFv4 (and v5), though you are right, the screens have changed.
What do you have in the Check Captcha action events?
Doe the form work from the Frontend view link in the Forms Manager?
Bob
There is no Check Captcha action events tab as in the video.
I can take out and read captcha element onto the form but I cannot get the events tab to show up at the top.
If I enable the captcha code and go to the frontend of the form and type in the code it gives me an error message saying the code is not entered correctly. (And I know it is.) Right not we have turned them off so forms can go for the person wanting to fill out and send one.
We are getting spam out the wazoo. Need to make these captcha codes work.
OK. Found it.
I was in easy form wizards. I changed the form to the default and found the events tab. Trying to go back to video to follow what it says. Will let you know if I have more problems.
Ugggg. I set the form back to the default and out of Easy Form Wizard and messed up everything. Thank goodness for back ups. Back where I started and at least the form works.
My problem is we cannot enable the captcha code or it gives an error that the wrong code has been entered again. So we have to put the enable code back to "No". This is not helping with spammers.
Do you think re creating the form in the default form wizard would make it work?
I guess my main question is now, how do I get it all to work in a form that was created in the Easy Form Wizard? Does not seem to be any way to get into the events portion of that form.
Hi ladybee46,
In ChronoForms v4 you can switch from the Easy Wizard to the Normal/Advanced one on the Form General tab (click the Form name link in the Forms Manager to see it) BUT don't try to switch back again as that may well damage your form. You can do everything you need to in the Normal Wizard.
The Easy Wizard should implement the ChronoForms Captcha without any need to change settings. I don't know why you'd be getting error messages in that case unless the form is being cached. If you have caching on then an old version of the form will be served and the Captcha code will probably not match.

Hi Bob!
I solved the problem this weekend by redoing all three of the forms. All are working correctly now. I do have V4 and could not find a way to switch the forms back to the Normal/default setting so I just did a complete redo of them all.
Thanks for the help and in the default setting a captcha added to the form by using the video works great.
