Front list versus Admin list

farmington 18 Mar, 2015
I'm having problems getting the Admin List to ever show up. I assumed that the Front List and Admin List would simply be two different views of the same data, where the choice of which you got to see was based on the permissions of those two.

To try just get to the Admin List, I've got a CC connection with the Front List completely disabled (all permissions are Not Set), and the Admin List permissions are set so that Public is Allowed for Index, View, Save. However, when I try to view the form, I get "Access denied".

Do I need to do something different for the Admin List to be viewable?

Hi farmington,

If you set only "public" to "allowed" and you intend to permit all groups then all other groups should be set to "inherited".

Also after any permissions changes you need to logout then in again, this may solve your problem.

That was actually a simplification of what I've done, for the sake of brevity, which may have been misleading.

I've tried various versions of setting the Admin List permissions to be "Allowed" for a specific User Group. At the moment, I have the Front List "Not Set" for everyone. I have the Admin List set so that "Index" and "View" are "Allowed" for one specific Access Level. I'm logged in as a user with that access level. I've logged out and back in several times. It still says "Access Denied".

If I set the Front List so that "Index" and "View" are "Allowed" for that same access level, it works fine (and it doesn't require me to log in and out to make it show up).

The "Admin List" availability would still be from the front end, correct? Otherwise you're completely in the administration of the site, and you're designing the CC connection, not using it. My expectation is that this Admin List functionality is supposed to provide a second view of the same data, accessible from the front end, and dependent on Access Level. This is exactly what I'm looking for, but having problems implementing.

The "admin list" is the same listing displayed in the admin area of the website, that's it, any "admin list" settings are related to the admin area list, and have no effect on the front list.
