Cannot update CFv4 or CCv4 in Joomla 3.4 site

momentis 05 Mar, 2015
I have a client site that was just upgraded to Joomla 3.4. This site had many CF forms and CC connections. After the upgrade to Joomla 3.4, I can no longer access either extension in the site's back-end. When I try, I get the following:

Warning: require_once(/home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoconnectivity/versions/j3.4/admin.chronoconnectivity.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoconnectivity/admin.chronoconnectivity.php on line 28

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoconnectivity/versions/j3.4/admin.chronoconnectivity.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoconnectivity/admin.chronoconnectivity.php on line 28

or:

Warning: require_once(/home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoforms/versions/j3.4/admin.chronoforms.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoforms/admin.chronoforms.php on line 19

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoforms/versions/j3.4/admin.chronoforms.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/hirschtr/public_html/administrator/components/com_chronoforms/admin.chronoforms.php on line 19

In the past when this would happen I would just update CF and CC to the latest versions. I just downloaded the most recent releases of CFv4 and CCv4. The install for CCv4 seems to proceed, but I still get the error above when accessing the extension. When I try to install the latest CFv4 I see the following message in Extension Manager:

Error
No file selected.
Unable to find install package

I cannot reproduce all of the forms and connections in version 5. Can anyone provide some insight on this?

I hate to bump posts, but this one is killing me and my client. Anyone out there experience this?

Hi Rick,

Please check this FAQ

The Error No File Selected is a Joomla bug that should be fixed in 3.4.1. The workaround is to do a manual installation - I posted a link to an RSJoomla doc on this in another thread here a couple of days ago.

Thanks for the pointer, Bob. I followed the instructions, but the installation still failed with the same message. I have to find your post on how to do a manual installation.

Well, this is working now. The issue persisting after the fix above was due to Firefox caching. Once I emptied the cache everything worked fine. Thanks Bob!!
