how to translate text in Display Message?

Hi,
I've made a Contact form. I have a site with 2 languages: Dutch and English. Through Locale I've created translation of language strings of the Form itself.
After submit there's a Thank You message shown. The text of this is in Display Message. On my website in either language the Thank You message is shown in Dutch.
My question: does this mean that I also need to put the translation of this message text in the same box under Locale ?

Hi latihan,

You should normally place something like this in the display message action: 
THANKS_MESSAGE


Then use this string in the "Locales" section to translate it: 
THANKS_MESSAGE=Thank you, we will contact you shortly!

Hi Max, do you mean:
instead of (see screenprint) that I put Thanx-Message in the box there and under tab Locales, for English :
THANKS_MESSAGE=Thank you, we will contact you shortly!
and for Dutch:
THANKS_MESSAGE=Dank je, we nemen spoedig contact met je op ................ ? (as I have 2 languages)


But how then do I personalize the text by naming the sender's name (Thank you Jan, we will contact you shortly1)?

... hmmm, uploading doesn't seem to work. Under Setup/Display message/edit is: now the text (in Dutch):
<p>Bedankt {naam},</p>
<p>we hebben je bericht in goede orde ontvangen. We nemen zo spoedig mogelijk contact met je op.</p>

And under Locales, English the text:
Naam:=Name:
Email-adres:=Email adress:
Onderwerp:=Subject:
bericht:=Message:
versturen=submit
##header##=Contact form
##text_1##=Please fill in all your information and your message text. Fields with a * are required.
##text_2##Thank you, we've received your message in good order. Soon we'll be contacting you.

Did you try to use this in the locales: 
THANKS_MESSAGE=Thank you {naam}, we will contact you shortly!

?
You are missing the "=" in the last line!

You may also change the wordings: 

Jan, Thank you for ....

Dear Max, it works fine now.
As you've said I've put the text THANKS_MESSAGE in Setup/On submit/Display Message.

And then under Locales in language English the text:
THANKS_MESSAGE=<p>Dear {voornaam} {achternaam}</p>,<p>we've received your application in good order. Within 7 days we'll contact you. Your registration will be processed in the order in which applications are received. And it'll be final as soon as your payment occurs on our bank account. You will receive an invoice with our payment data. For reservation of a room for these days you.

And under Locales in language Dutch the text:
THANKS_MESSAGE=<p>Bedankt, {voornaam} {achternaam}</p><p>we hebben je aanmelding in goede orde ontvangen. We nemen binnen 7 dagen contact met je op. Je aanmelding wordt verwerkt op volgorde van binnenkomst en is definitief zodra je betaling op onze bankrekening is bijgeschreven. Je ontvangt hiervoor nog een factuur met de betalingsgegevens. Voor reserveren van overnachting ter plekke neem je contact op met centrum Mennorode: <A href="http://www.mennorode.nl/nl/formulieren/latihan" target="_blank">info over verblijf (klik hier)</A> </p>
