Image crop, upload by front end user?

craiger9er 21 Oct, 2014
Hey everyone,

I'm working on a project where I have to provide the ability for someone to upload a photo from the front end. However, they would need to crop the photo first, then upload that cropped photo.

I saw an "image resizer" plugin, but I'm not sure how that works or if that would work to crop or if it would just resize the whole image.

Does Chronoforms have this ability built in, or is it possible to get a plugin / 3rd party thing to make this work?

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

The image-resizer action does exist for CFv4 and might do what you need. It doesn't support selective cropping. It will re-size to a specific height or width and crop to an aspect ratio. I think that's correct, haven't used it for a while.

There are other tools around now that support more selective cropping - and sites that offer that functionality. It might be simplest to send your users somewhere else to crop their image before they try to upload it,

I think that would work perfectly for me. Is this already in the system or is there a plugin I have to download?

Thanks,

Hi Craig,

It should be there - look for the Image Resize action in the Utilities action group.
