I plan to use cf for a private/closed forum. I'd like to have a login for members somewhere on my home page--something like the member login for this website. Does cf come with that or should I get another plugin?

You can probably use the Joomla! login form; or build one using ChronoForms. Probably the most difficult bit will be to assing forum users to a particular user group.
