Chronoforms stopped working probably after upgrading Joomla v. 3.3.1

suzeen 21 Jun, 2014
Hello There,

My chronoforms has stopped working, in the frontend I have 2 forms which look fine, but when I test them they seem to have been send but I do not receive anything. Also in the backend when I go to the component I get: a black page

What has happened:
- I upgrades joomla to 3.3.1 automatically
- We received new ip information from our hosting company
- I made a new menu item, but that is basically it.

Also my akeeba backup is not working, the component works, but trying to make a backup stops at 73%. Is this related perhaps?

I hope anyone can help me?

Best regards Linda

I can go to the backend, but the forms can still not be used on the front end, I am getting this error when trying to submit a form:

You don't have permission to access /contact on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Why am I getting this error?

Hi Linda,

That looks as though there may be some server security setting (or possibly a Joomla! security extension setting) that is blocking access to the files in the site /administration/ folder that ChronoForms uses.

Dear Bob,

Thank you for your help. We managed to fix the backend of Chronoforms and started working on the problem that we did not seem to receive any emails.
Well it seems that the emails are going to the spam folder. How is this possible, is there a solution for this?
Other emails send by the website are going to the inbox, only the ones from chronoforms end up in spam...

Hi Linda,

Whitelist the From email address? Check the email to see what is spammy about it?

Hey Bob,
How can I whitelist the From email address? Also I have 4 forms currently active on my site, and there is not much strange stuff in it, the email is just a auto generated template.

Hi Linda,

Usually you just add them to the address book of your email reader. This isn't a ChronoForms problem - ChronoForms is sending the emails OK. The problem is that somewhere after they are sent they are being identified as possible spam. There are many reasons why this might happen :-(

Hi,

Please make sure that the from email used in Chronoforms is the same one used in other forms which are working fine.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for posting FAQ topic, rewriting the folder helped getting backend chronoforms to work again. I though have a problem with sending an email from jooomla. When user registers using chronoform then he gets "could not initialize mail function" error. User is registered but no email is sent. Could this be related issue? What do you suggest, please?

Thank you,
Jan

Hi Jan,

I don't think the email issue is related, are you using an Email action to send the email ?

Hi Max,

I am sorry for not responding for such a long time. I am getting back to the problem now.

To your question: Yes, I am using mail function from chronoforms to send the mail. The problem persists. Any ideas what that may be causing?

Thanks a lot,
Jan

Answer
Hi Max,

we figured it out with my colleague. It was just wrong settings of our php mail function.

Jan
