Email notifications not working

How to fix email notifications not working in ChronoForums.

Overview

The issue occurs because ChronoForums uses the PHP mail function by default, which may not be configured or working on the server.
Ensure your server's PHP mail function is operational. If it cannot be configured, contact support to request a patch that enables SMTP functionality.

Hi,

I'm not sure how to set up email in chrono forums. An earlier post mentioned that smtp was not currently supported, and that php mail was required. Is that still the case?

Any howtos on getting that going, or troubleshooting the email notification process?

Thanks in advance,

Marc

Sorry - I neglected to say that we are currently using smtp on our site, and not php for mail.

I tried changing to php, but it is still not sending on replies, etc.

Thanks,

Hi Marc,

ChronoForums is using php mailer by default, so your php mail function must be working on the server (this is not related to the Joomla setting) in order for ChronoForums to send the emails!

If you can't get this to work then you can send me an email using the contact us page to get a patch file working with SMTP, I'm not sure when I will be able to finish this feature though!

Thanks - I'll try to get our php mail function going, and if I can't, I'll request the patch.

I can't seem to get php mail going on our server. It may have to do with how mail is relayed. We do have smtp going though, so I think I'll request that script.

Thanks!
