Hello,

I am researching a site for a new client that will involve 3 language versions.
The site will be reliant on Chronoforms quite a lot, and I am lookinbg for advice on best practice on how to implement custom forms that will load using the correct language.
The core Joomla libraries are fine for the rest of the site, but I would appreciate any feedback on how to manage something as simple as HTML code in a custom form.
Ideally we want a single form that (hopefully) calls an XML or PHP file based on a language preference on the site. If something like JoomFIsh or other Multi-Lingual components/plugins can be integrated with CF then well and good but I would like to know what is best practice.

Hi Brendan,

You've got a few choices here. Starting with - IMHO - the worst one you can have separate forms for each language and use the URL or some switching code to change between them. I've seen this done and it will work but you end up with several essentially forms to maintain.

Second you can use the ChronoForms Locale settings. These will allow you to add a series of language strings for the visible text on the form and will automatically change the string set depending on the site language setting in Joomla! This is neat and works well for short text strings like headings and labels.

Third, and possibly in combination with locales, you can use PHP in Custom Code actions (which can include files) to switch larger chunks of text. Again this is done depending on the Joomla! site language setting.
