How to ad a calculation to a form?

perenboom 10 Apr, 2014
Is it possible to add a calculation tool to a form?
E.g. there are a lot of products with prices and at the bottom of the form you get a total of products a customer wants to buy.
I am not a programmer, so please keep the answers simple.

Hi perenboom,

Yes it is possible but not without some JavaScript coding skills.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for your answer.
I want to give a try with JavaScript, tell me what to do.

Hi David,

That's pretty much an impossible question. If you can describe your form or post a link to it then I might be able to help a bit.

Hi Bob,

Posting a link would be impossible right now because I am still in the construction phase, the site isn't launched yet.
If it would help, I can post you (through PM) the code as it is right now without the calculation function.

Hello Bob,

I haven't heard yet if it is ok to send you the code used in my form by PM.

Hi David,

Well, at the point where I have to download your form back-up, install it and work out how it works you are way beyond the free advice I can offer here :-(

Well, if you want I can buy you coffee..😉

There is no simple solution for this, other then to buy something like RSForm?

Hi perenboom,

Maybe, I don't know how well RS Forms supports custom calculations. If you need to do it with ChronoForms you will need to write, or get written, some custom JavaScript. That is true of pretty much any form calculation. There are some links to JavaScript tutorials in this FAQ or one of the Freelance coding sites could probably help.

If you are able to post a link here to an on-line version of your form, or post the details of what you need to do, then we may be able to set you in a useful direction.

Bob
